Home Education

Choosing to educate your child at home is a big decision and if you choose to do so, you need to let us and, if relevant, the school know.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher or follow the national curriculum to home-school your child. You need to be aware that the local authority does not provide financial support, teaching or schemes of work for elective home education.

You will have to buy any textbooks and other resources and arrange and pay for exams. The gov.uk website offers more information about the law in this area.

Teaching secondary core subjects like Maths and English can be a challenging task for parents who home educate their children. Our curriculum-based sessions provide the necessary support from specialist teachers, creating a safe and informal learning environment that has proven to be highly effective.

Each session includes an hour dedicated to Maths and an hour to English, ensuring a comprehensive approach to these essential subjects. Our SEND-friendly program is tailored to meet the needs of all students, with teachers experienced in working with young people with additional needs, including dyslexia and dyscalculia.

The sessions are designed to be engaging and fun, utilising a variety of teaching methods to keep students interested and motivated. By providing structured and supportive instruction, we help students achieve their academic goals and supplement the excellent work done by parents at home.

Please note that the KS4/GCSE classes only prepare the young person for the content of the GCSEs, we do not organise the exam arrangements.
